Holter monitor

[edit]

Hi there, Dean.jenkins! Thanks for adding Image:Holter.jpg to the Holter monitor article. Could you please provide some information on its source and copyright status? See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for more information. Thanks! --Diberri | Talk 01:15, Sep 7, 2004 (UTC)

I've done that now thanks.--Dean.jenkins 16:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a higher-resolution version of this image? — Omegatron 22:08, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I do. When I'm next at my home PC I'll upload it.--Dean.jenkins 16:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did you ever find that image? (Going through my watched user talk pages...) — Omegatron 22:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the 120px version from the article, it is really too small to be of any use. Could you upload a bigger version? --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 18:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ECG

[edit]

Could you help out with the historical section of the ECG article? JFW | T@lk 21:45, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have a go but I have written extensively about this already on the History of the ECG. I feel the Wikipedia should perhaps have a synthesis of ECG history rather than a blow-by-blow timeline as I have written. --Dean.jenkins 16:17, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ECG & Alexander Muirhead (1848-1920)

[edit]

The first source of information on Muirhead is the Dictionary of National Biography - Muirhead's bio. was written by Birse & Knowlden. He was also interested in wireless, dynamos, arc lamps, insulating compounds, and the telephone and so features widely.

They cite sources M. E. Muirhead, Alexander Muirhead (1926). Also the Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 59 (1921), 782–3, & O. J. L., PRS, 100A (1921–2), viii–ix, & Muirhead & Co., Annual report (1975), etc.

He is buried at West Norwood Cemetery (Grave 20,839, square 21) along with other members of his family, his father John Muirhead, architect, and later superintendent with the Electric Telegraph Co. in London. Also his brother John (1846-1895). WNC is the last resting place of a remarkably large number of pioneering technicians and engineers. Also medics - see Category:Burials at West Norwood Cemetery -- Ephebi (talk) 22:47, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not familiar with the original research behind these articles though at first glance they would appear to rely on the same single source. I understand that good scientific evidence would avoid single-sourced claims; however we are frequently not so privileged with biographies of people long dead - from a Wiki point of view it does form a reasonably sourced account, and given his interest it does not seem infeasible. I'm not surprised if, as you say, the Barts archivist had no records; from my understanding of it, it was not much more than a novelty at the time. If you wish to sleuth further then a quick look at A2A shows that Birmingham University Information Services, Special Collections Department holds a tranche of Alex.
