Thanks for your help. Badagnani 03:36, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I've reverted your replacement of this image with one with "long2" written in running script. This is because the first image is used on several articles where it is necessary for readers to have the full, accurate shape and strokes of the character. I've uploaded your version to another location, Image:Long-dragon-running.jpg. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 06:19, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Miranda IM screenshot

[edit]

I just saw your screenshot of Miranda IM in the article about the messenger. Could you please tell me which message window skin did you use for the 'shot? I've done some searching but wasn't able to find it. Denis Kasak 20:06, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly, could you tell me where you got the background in that screenshot? Thanks! --Evil Eccentric 02:41, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your screenshot of Miranda IM, and yours looked so awesome compared to mine. How would I get my message window to look like that, I have IE View and tabSRMM. Could you send me the template or whatever you used to get your message window to look like that? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raycosm (talkcontribs) 02:31, 1 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BM screenshot.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BM screenshot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Did you still have the chinese fonts ?

[edit]

Did you still have the chinese fonts use to make this serie of image :

I need such font to expand the commons:Chinese stroke order project. Can you upload it on a website, then tell me where (http address), to allow me to download them ?

I really need those 4 fonts. Yug (talk) 15:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there.
I've looked into the project, and actually questioned the necessity of including those four types of script into which.
First, there is NO stroke orders for 行書 and 草書. I repeat, NO stroke orders. These two scripts are not rigid; they are handwritten, artistic. For every individual, there exists a unique manner of writing, which, of course, including where to start writing a character and when to end it. The computer fonts for 行書 and 草書 are there for their aesthetic value, but you have to realize that they are in no way representing a regulated form of both scripts; in fact, there are dozens of fonts available already nowadays dedicated to both scripts, each of them with different "tilts", or to say, coming in different fashions. Hence it will be improper to include both scripts into the project.
Second, about 篆書. I am a native Chinese, and actually, I don't know the proper stroke orders for 篆書; the basic elements of writing in that script is totally different from the daily script we common people learn and use now, ie. 楷書. I looked into your self-introduction and, no offense meant but, I'm worry about whether you could offer correct information on this aspect. People with expertise in the calligraphy of this script is needed to ensure the validity of the information distributed.
Last, I also cannot see the necessity to include 隸書 in. In terms of stroke orders, I'd say more than 95% of 隸書 is identical to how things are in 楷書; the difference between 隸書 and 楷書 is majorly in the maneuvering of the brush, not in characters themselves. Being plain, I could not see many benefits in including 隸書 as well.
If the above is not your intention however, please elaborate me more on your idea, and I will see how I can be of help. -- G.S.K.Lee 15:42, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's in fact for this sister project, which aim not to show the stroke order, but only the evolution. I just need the good fonts to expand it. Yug (talk)
First, thanks for your kind answers.
  • In fact, I already know for the unreadable (and maybe un-existing?) stroke order for old scripts. I wrote myself the section Stroke order#Read the stroke order from the_graph (which may be improve), stating that the stroke order is truly readable only on 隸書 & 楷書.
  • I also agree that 行書 and 草書 have no standardized stroke orders, are not rigid because are handwritten and purely artistic.
  • In the category of "Readable Stroke Order Script" (隸書 & 楷書), I also agree that stroke order of 隸書 should be at 95% identical to the stroke order in 楷書.
This is just to show that I have a basic understanding of these issues (calligraphic stroke order over time and scripts // but still not enough, it's true), and to go toward some efficient solutions. Yug (talk) 16:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about the Ancient Chinese characters project:

You have to realize that this is a very delicate and academic work more than just ripping off the content of the font files, converting them into images then uploading them all. There are omissions and errors in these font files. They are never meant to be cited as a reliable academic source for an encyclopedia; they are there for their aesthetic values as I have mentioned clearly above. True, part of the content these fonts provided is correct. Which also means another part is flawed.
I was able to contribute the above images to Wikipedia because I have basic knowledges in 文字學, and I know to choose those examples which I am a hundred percent sure they are right and are fine to be presented before the public. Some of them with minor flaws were even processed by me with image manipulation programs to ensure their correctness.
As such, I am afraid I cannot easily offer what you were requesting without the team members prove it first that at least some of them have sufficient knowledges in 文字學 as well to properly handle this task, or I will not risk to see I am - sorry, but allow me to be plain - possibly helping to spread false information around. There already are, in fact, several marvelous academic documentations in hard copies available detailing what the project is trying to do. If the project really means to be serious, tell the team members to get a copy of 漢語大字典. They will find what they all want inside the tomes, and only by digitalizing such authoritative information source will they finish something truely worth to be finished. -- G.S.K.Lee 17:43, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Ancient Chinese characters project was started with the aim to use the data of http://www.internationalscientific.org/ (甲骨文-金文-大篆-小篆). But we have not enough contributers.
So, for other styles, I try to set up a "massive alternative solution". The alternative solution need for each style a chosen and accurate font and an hand-made computer script, then we can automatically make a wide set of Images. This alternative solution keep the aim to be as accurate as possible (more than 95% of the characters without clear mistake). I think such level of accuracy may be done with some fonts for :
隶书 and 楷书, because the shape is standardized;
行書 and 草書, because the shape can change, I think this may allow us to use unperfect fonts.
Of course, I noticed that some fonts seem better that some others. That's why I look for the best fonts available.
On commons, you said "I would recommend 中國龍金石篆. As far as I see the font remains correct references to all ancient/obsolete allographs. -- G.S.K.Lee 09:25, 22 July 2006 (UTC)"[reply]
All this lead me to ask your help, such :
  1. If we found some accurate fonts, my solution is ok. But I ask you: "Do you think we can got some fonts accurate enough to share on Wikipedia the production of this alternative solution ?"
  2. Particularly, Know you some good fonts in 隶书, 楷书, 行書 and 草書 which are accurate enough to do the job ? (+names, link to download, http://www.zhaozi.cn)
  3. (For my own use, I'm interesting to get the most accurate fonts also for 甲骨文-金文-大篆-小篆, even if the rate of accuracy is lower than 80%, but I think most fonts about those script are purely aesthetic and really not accurate enough to do anything on wikipedia)
  4. Moreover, are you in Taiwan ? I will be in Taiwan from August 2007 to April 2008. I will look for more information and help about Chinese calligraphy.
Waiting you answer, Yug (talk) 16:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. I would try to stitch out a new article whenever I am free, and you can access the draft via the link in the title. Feel free to help out if you wish.
The main problem at hand currently will be how to properly address the WP:WEB issue, and since I have no plans to rage wars over there with the current guidelines, I guess the best we can do is to try to promote the game and see if we can boost its, well, notability. -- G.S.K.Lee 16:12, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I just want to know how to translate name of Chinese constellation into Chinese. The present version shows only English name. That's so sad.--Dobs 10:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
