Comparisons

[edit]

Writing this article in a comparison to Zion is an insult to it. No article should be written as a comparison - the subject should be just that. Also, giving the location relative to Zion is ridiculous as it rovides no relevant reference point.

It was co-administered with Zion for much of its history and is still a secondary close-by destination that people who go to Zion go to. Its proximity and long history of being linked makes such comparisons apt (not to mention the fact that the geology is related in that each part exposes overlapping parts of the Grand Staircase). --mav 04:11, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Image descriptor

[edit]

The footnote for the image Bryce_Cabin_circa_1881.jpg "Ebenezer Bryce and his family lived in Bryce Canyon, in this cabin, here photographed circa 1881." is ambigous. It is not clear if the year 1881 is the year when the cabin was photographed or the family lived.

Can someone fix this?

Question and comments

[edit]

1. If the park is not a canyon then why is it improperly called "Bryce Canyon National Park" and why the NPS does not properly rename it simply to "Bryce National Park"?

2. I think the history section should be placed before anything else, including the geography and climate sections.

3. The section called "Creation of the park" does not tell the story in a linear and chronological fashion. It should be reorganized and rewritten so that the sequence is from the past to the present. I see several instances of jumping back and forth in time.

Featured article - Status

[edit]

Greetings, Today I added several cn-tags within the article; and the Ref. improve notice. If article is to remain FA, improvements are needed. Thanks, JoeNMLC (talk) 15:52, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Lfstevens: I saw that you did a copyedit of the article in June. Are you willing to address the above concerns? Z1720 (talk) 19:23, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not an SME. Not a good choice for this. Lfstevens (talk) 05:52, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So much more work is required to keep the FA status on this article. Alexeyevitch(talk) 12:36, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JoeNMLC and Alexeyevitch: If this article is far from meeting the featured article criteria, would either of you be willing to post this article at WP:FAR and explain your concerns? Z1720 (talk) 14:38, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Z1720, my focus on Wikipedia is Orphan articles. I came across this particular article because one of my relatives mentioned visiting there. I'm not at all familiar with the FAR process, so would rather not participate. IMO, the article reads well & can be made better with additional citations. Regards, JoeNMLC (talk) 20:06, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After a failed attempt on a different poorly cited FA. Which had many uncited paragraphs and original research. You just can't make this stuff up anymore. I will attempt this again and will be in touch if I need more help because I am unfamiliar with how FAR works. Alexeyevitch(talk) 00:03, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
