Race

[edit]

isn't a baton also the thingy you pass around in a relay race?

Police baton

[edit]

"In recent years they have been all but replaced by more modern side-arm and telescopic batons." Most British Police carry a side-arm or telescopic baton? I don't think this is true.

The British police do indeed all carry modern batons now. Most forces have gone for extensible straight batons. A few forces use extensible side-handle batons and at least one (British Transport Police) use the rigid PR-24. Jonhallett 13:11, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Dildo

[edit]

Quote: A dildo is sometimes called a baton -- is this really relevant? Maikel (talk) 09:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

merge, or meta-article?

[edit]

It seems like there are many baton articles for batons that are basically sticks (conductor, military, twirling). Why not have one article on the overall concept and then separate sections on each type? Or at least some summary article that links them all? TCO (talk) 18:40, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
