1981 Grammy Award Winner

[edit]

The Grammy Awards air in February (and occasionally March) but the awards are for the previous year's releases. The cutoff is October. John Lennon's Double Fantasy was released in November 1980, past the cutoff, so it wasn't considered until 1981 when it won the 1981 Album of the Year in a ceremony which aired on February 24, 1982 (the 24th Annual Grammy Awards). It wasn't the 1982 Grammy. They can't award Grammy of the Year in February of the same year just in case, you know, someone releases a blockbuster album in April. Here's the official Grammy Award Website denoting Double Fantasy as the 1981 award winner https://www.grammy.com/awards/24th-annual-grammy-awards To further clarify, last night (February 4th) Taylor Swift won of the Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Award Ceremony. It was released last year. The ceremony was last night. See? Hotcop2 (talk) 03:13, 6 February 2024 (UTC) Hotcop2 (talk) 03:20, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Now and Then was released in November 2023, past the cutoff date. I am certain it will be nominated for best video and historical recording this year (2024), and the ceremony will be broadcast February 2025. It will not win a 2025 Grammy. Hotcop2 (talk) 18:25, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
