New article

[edit]

I have added real-world info like reception. I would appreciate help with the in-universe info, as I have not played all of these games. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 22:03, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article picture

[edit]

The Fox McCloud article has artwork from Super Smash Bros. Brawl at the top, with the blue background removed. This article has Falco's Command artwork. Shouldn't both articles use the same game for their picture? dogman15 (talk) 04:49, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not necessarily, there is no consensus for that sort of thing, I don't believe. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 19:30, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Falco the pheasant

[edit]

In the original Japanese Iwata Asks, Falco is referred as pheasant in the fifth page ("で、キジのファルコを助けると・・・。")[1] where the English translation refers him as falcon ("But if you help Falco the falcon…".)[2] There are no reference to falcon in the Japanese interview. --Kusunose 05:56, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They have referred to him as a falcon in manuals as well: as in this translation. So I don't think it hurts to leave both in. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 16:34, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Last name was mistranslated. Redirect?

[edit]

According to this post, the character's correct last name was supposed to be Rambaldi even in the US, so maybe the main article should be Falco Rambaldi and Falco Lombardi would redirect to it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dipnlik (talkcontribs) 16:01, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Uncited opinions

[edit]

Falco has been mainly criticized for his appearance and contentious attitude, but praised for being far less annoying than other characters in the series.

By whom, the writer of this article? Valjeanlafitte (talk) 00:39, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The part of the article above the table of contents is called the lead. It just summarizes sourced content in the body of the article down below the table of contents. To the extent is actually doing that, it doesn't need citations. Please see WP:LEAD. The "by whom" question is answered down there, in the "reception" section. Jytdog (talk) 00:20, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but I still think it seems sloppy and unprofessional to include very specific, highly subjective opinions in the lead such as that Falco is "less annoying than other characters series". I mean, a lot of people hate Donald Trump, but I don't see "He's been called the worst president in the history of the United States" in that article's lead, even though I'm certain you could find thousands of citations for that opinion. Valjeanlafitte (talk) 07:18, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

One of these characters was elected President of the United States. The other is an anthropomorphic fictional bird. Discussing whether these two characters deserve the same level of dignity in description could be opening quite the can of worms ... Alephb (talk) 23:07, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Valjeanlafitte:@Jytdog:@Alephb: I think it would help to say "Multiple reviewers characterized Falco as..." It would state who is characterizing him as such, but still doing so in a general way. Even though "by whom" is specifically answered down there, the sentence in the lead should still have some sort of qualifier to avoid having the article speak in its down words.
