My boss is a big western movies fan. He claims that William Boyd holds the record for a character played the most times by the same person. If I or someone else can verify this claim, it should be added to the main article page.

The 66 movies in which William Boyd played Hopalong Cassidy were not TV-movies, but real cinema movies, so I think that the record still holds. Well at least I cannot think of any cinema movies, where the character was played more than 66 times. Besides the 66 movies William Boyd played the role of Hopalong Cassidy in 40 TV episodes from 1952 to 1954.

One must not forget the Italian-American version of this charactor " Hop-a-long Che-sediche'."

When talking about characters played most often in TV-movie series I think that Bonanza must be one of the top scores also, with 430 episodes, and featuring Michael Landon and Lorne Greene in almost everyone of them. [Guest: Joergen Hansen] 13:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Hopalong cassidy.jpg

[edit]

Image:Hopalong cassidy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hopping Along

[edit]

Besides being "a hard-drinking, rough-living wrangler", Mulford's character was lame, hence the nickname "Hopalong'. My recollection is that Boyd might have played him as such in the first Hopalong Cassidy film, but when more features were planned, the bad leg device was dropped as being too inconvenient - or something. This seems to me an interesting sidelight that might at least be mentioned in the article. 76.199.8.96 (talk) 23:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's mentioned in the Hopalong Cassidy article because that type of info. is more pertinent to the character than the actor who played him, this being a bio. 82.8.252.13 (talk) 15:37, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
At least that is an explanation for the unusual name. We all wondered where the name came from.96.248.101.32 (talk) 16:25, 7 April 2018 (UTC)DeMikeal Bivins[reply]

What about TV?

[edit]

The Hopalong Cassidy show followed the radio program. It stared Boyd and ran from 1952 to 1954.
