I am not really sure whether Abeta is an short name for amyloid beta peptide so it wouldn't hurt for someone medically trained to look at it. I also thought of writing a article on it, but on reading a bit on the subject, i concluded there is no way it would be coherent so any help would be appreciated. [1]

I removed a seemingly random "your mom" from after the last sentence, does anyone know of any valid reason that was there? The edit description of the editor that added it provided no description at all and it seemed out of place... Wintermut3 23:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

which part of the sugar is (covelantly) linked to what part of the AA/protein ??

Someone might want to add the fact that this compares to a proteoglycan in such that it is more protein than it is carb, where as the proteglycan is more carb than protein. It is an important distinction since these two seem closely related. Also, any med student confused about it when studying would probably want to know which is which immediately.~~Ashok —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.197.226.243 (talk) 03:31, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added references to Harpers Illustrated Biochemistry, which may be a useful addition to the reference given, plus links to an online book and a special online edition of Science. Kdruhl 17:38, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 07:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aminohexase

[edit]

What is aminohexase? Is it suppose to be aminohexose? --Kupirijo 04:03, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D-Fucose

[edit]

Is D-Fucose shown in the figure used? I though it was L-Fucose. --Kupirijo 04:10, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is L-Fucose in the figure, but it's the beta-anomeric form there - it should be the alpha-anomer instead, i.e. the OH group at the anomeric center (C1) should point up and not down. Glycosciences (talk) 10:56, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glucoprotein

[edit]

This term (which is present in a couple of articles) seems to me to be a synonym for glycoprotein. If so, please create a redirect page for it.Asinthior (talk) 14:37, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What means this (in the lead paragraph)? Not a sentence

[edit]

"It is important to distinguish endoplasmic reticulum-based glycosylation of the secretory system without of reversible cytosolic/nuclear glycosylation. " Thanks in advance. ( Martin | talkcontribs 20:34, 14 September 2016 (UTC))[reply]

and this, ff

"Glycoprotein of the cytosol and nucleus can be modified through the reversible addition of a single GlcNAc residues that is consider reciprocal to phosphorylation and the functions of these are likely to be additional regulatory mechanism that controls phosphorylation-based signalling" ( Martin | talkcontribs 20:38, 14 September 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Perturbation is dispensible

[edit]

The following sentence contains the root predicate: "perturbation is dispensible".

In contrast, perturbation of glycan processing (enzymatic removal/addition of carbohydrate residues to the glycan), which occurs in both the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, is dispensable for isolated cells (as evidence by survival with glycosides inhibitors) but can lead to human disease (congenital disorders of glycosylation) and can be lethal in animal models.

Maybe that's all valuable information, but at least hang this hairball on a stronger hook. (You can tell that few readers have bothered to wade into this dense, soupy swamp because "as evidence be" has not been fixed.) — MaxEnt 23:41, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New addtions

[edit]

I am editing this page for a class Wikipedia project so I will be adding a few sections to the article and editing some existing ones. Please feel free to let me know if anything needs additional editing. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alib2022 (talkcontribs) 22:41, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
