Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Persistent IP vandalism and sockpuppetry. Skitash (talk) 20:31, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Per WP:RUSUKR. 🛧Midori No Sora♪🛪 ( ☁=☁=✈) 21:57, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Is that a redirect? -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 09:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Malcolmxl5: The page was moved after this request was submitted. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 09:35, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Ah! -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 09:36, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. IP user is repeatedly removing sourced content, page is linked to Arab–Israeli conflict, I don't think IP users should be allowed to edit this page Whizkin (talk) 22:31, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Editing by non-XC users in a WP:RUSUKR-sanctioned article. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 00:27, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Cassiopeia talk 01:43, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:A/I/PIA. nableezy - 02:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent block evasion. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 04:19, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP unconstructive edits. DareshMohan (talk) 06:58, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Important bio aricle. Lahsim Niasoh (talk) 08:30, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Ip adress vandalising the articles. Monhiroe (talk) 08:41, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Wikipedialuva (talk) 10:27, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Contentious topic, election underway, IPs found to be removing content heavily. Also adding heavily unsourced content, requested semi until atleast 1 October 2024. Thewikizoomer (talk) 10:51, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The subject of two pages The Keys to the White House and Allan Lichtman directly called for edits to the pages concerning them to remove critical material (material which had been there for a couple months as a result of the Wikipedia community's own research and independent reporting) on his YouTube stream this week, which has resulted in a swarm of edits to both pages to remove all of this material. This has made it untenable to permanently restore the previous material and reverting is difficult due to the deluge of edits; it also seems like a bad faith act to encourage edits personally in this way. I have done my best to restore the pages as new accounts continue editing but anticipate more edits. Caraturane (talk) 12:11, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Protected by Primefac. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 13:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: User appearing to be adding language other than english despite warnings by other user. Thewikizoomer (talk) 12:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Jdcomix (talk) 13:24, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 13:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Multiple IP users repeatedly adding in unsourced content re:living people, resorting to personal attacks and reversion when removed. glman (talk) 13:47, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP editors are adding unconfirmed/rumored edits to the page. 45BearsFan (talk) 14:35, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Protection required to prevent repeated addition of a non RS, non BLP compliant attack page. Axad12 (talk) 14:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP users are trying to change Martin's relationship status due to gossip outlets stating that he split up from Dakota Johnson. No reliable source has confirmed it yet, so I would like to request protection in order to avoid having inaccurate information on Wikipedia every five minutes. GustavoCza (talkcontribs) 15:19, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 15:25, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Protection is blocking the page being moved to the result of a recent RM discussion. FOARP (talk) 09:51, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected I did the move. But User:FOARP, it would be easier to just ask an admin to do the move directly, such as WP:RM#Administrator needed, rather than "ask admin to unprotect, they unprotect, you move, ask admin to reprotect, they protect". DMacks (talk) 13:08, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
