Temporary adminship

[edit]

Hello Datrio, following Aphaia's request, I have made you, Bjarte, and Aphaia temporary admins here for the purpose of editing the protected elections page for the duration of the election. This adminship should be used only for editing that page. If you need this on any other wikis, you can make yourself one using meta:Special:Makesysop. Please log that in the temporary admins section of meta:requests for permissions. Angela. 13:08, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

You could just move the page back, instead of doing a copy-paste move and deleting the original (which loses the edit history). I have deleted the copied page and moved the original back. --cesarb 19:03, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Semi-protection

[edit]

I've left this message on your Meta page as well, but I wanted to make sure you got this. At Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy, a couple users and myself are attempting to gather consensus about a possible change in editing. So as not to keep the community out of the loop, we've been posting to user talk pages, which seems to have worked. If you can add your thoughts to the talk page, it would be greatly appreciated. We've gone over a few issues, ranging from perception of anti-wiki to time limits, and recycling pagemove code, so you might want to check out #Rehashing to get up to speed. Thanks in advance, Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 21:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Miguel de Icaza attacks me

[edit]

Hi.

I'm editing the wikipedia page on Mono, but the user Miguel.de.Icaza is always attacking me. I think he cannot be objective at all. Can you anything with his attempts to revert the page? As it sounds the same as Bill Gates would edit the wikipedia page on Windows. My contact email: is Kirill.Kononenko@gmail.com

voting by a banned one?

[edit]

Hi. You will recall the problems with this user. As there were some problems with vandalism on my page here in last days ([1] but probably not by him), I followed what happens here, and i wonder about the fact, that he, although banned, has voted in meta with his registration in en.wiki - see here. If you have entry to his user pages so you will see that there were some more changes in last days (deleted, renewed etc. i.e. by User:Samir, indef block on Sept 2nd). Just for your knowledge. Greetings, -jkb- 12:21, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Elections

[edit]

I am frankly appalled by the use of a dysfunctional (and discredited) electoral system called approval voting to fill a single empty position on the board of trustees. It is impossible to rationally decide whom to vote for in this system unless you have a fairly accurate idea of how others are going to vote; in the absence of opinion polls, this is indeed an impossibility.

Other systems avoid these problems, the obvious choice would be a single transferable vote system.

I'm trying to find out who decided to use this system, whether there was any discussion leading up to it, and whether there's any way of moving to a sane system.

Can you help?

Non-free use disputed for Image:Mist walker.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mist walker.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:18, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
