Pro-Life (politician)

[edit]

I see that you're a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Idaho. Could you take a look at Pro-Life (politician) aka Marvin Richardson (a politician from Idaho), and comment on its talk page on the subjects notability? Thanks. I know of what I think to be more notable politicians who do not have articles and am trying to decide if Pro-Life (politician) should go or the others should get articles. Mining in Idaho help

[edit]

Hi Robbiegiles -- I notice your helpful note at User talk:Avecchione. I visited that user talk page to inform Avecchione that i had tagged Mining in Idaho for apparent copyright violation, which would lead to its being deleted in one week. The issue is particularly about Assay Office info. Especially as Avecchione does not seem to be active currently, i wonder if you could look at the Mining in Idaho article and salvage non-copyright-vio material for a continuing article. By the way, i have been contributing to List of National Historic Landmarks in Idaho, including Assay Office (Boise, Idaho) which can carry some of the info that was in the Mining in Idaho article, but there is other info in Mining in Idaho, too. Sincerely, doncram (talk) 19:28, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, got ur note, glad to hear you can take an interest in this. FYI, I further copied some material to the section of History of Idaho that is about mining. Perhaps you could review that. Unfortunately that material had no specific references, although it is so specific about mining areas that it seems factual. Perhaps after that move, and after recent development of the Assay Office (Boise, Idaho) article, it would be no great loss to lose the Mining in Idaho article, perhaps by resetting it to be just a redirect to the mining section of the History of Idaho. Cheers, doncram (talk) 23:10, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Williams Gunnison

[edit]

Sir/Madam: in my efforts to improve Wiki coverage of US Western explorers, I came across John Williams Gunnison. I removed inflamatory language and POV from the article, also noting that sources are needed. As you have been involved in the work on the Utah War and Mountain Meadows massacre, perhaps you or other associated editors have material which might improve this article. Thank you. Just me! Orphaned non-free media (Image:Id-lottery.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Id-lottery.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:WikiProject Idaho templates, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:WikiProject Idaho templates has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:WikiProject Idaho templates, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. translation impossible?

[edit]

There is a discussion going on whether the name of that German church body can be translated or not (it appears like this on the english pages of this church's homepage). One user changed the name of this Church (actually a federation of several Lutheran, United and Reformed churches) and it's regional member churches to the German form because he says their names can't get translated. so the article on the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria now appears under its German name because he says the "concept" can't be translated into English. Please go to the discusson page of the Evangelical Church in Germany and have your say --93.130.249.56 (talk) 02:30, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robbie, I want to get in touch with Wikipedians who might lend a hand ( in any of many possible ways ) as I work with 12 kids to explore and contribute to Wikipedia. Our project starts Nov 3 and runs to the winter break 6 sessions.

I am looking at 3 learning goals for the students - I can find things in Wikipedia - I can evaluate pages I find - I can make a contribution to a page

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Westview Press requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Epeefleche (talk) 08:11, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:ITD-first-truck-us-id.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ITD-first-truck-us-id.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. A tag has been placed on File:St-maries-id.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. File permission problem with File:Selway-river-1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Selway-river-1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. Are there any records of the guards and their application data. My Great Grandfather, Charles Henry Brown worked as a prison guard in at least 1904. I have been able to find very little info about him other than he was born in 1848 in Indiana, his father was from England and his mother from Maine or Vermont. He is listed in the 1900 census in Chester (Fall River) Idaho on his farm with family. His wife was Emma Isabel Bird. He had three children and two step children. He, Emma and most of the family moved to Or5bindale, Alberta, Canada in 1906 to homestead and it was there he was kicked in the head by a horse and died. Buried in Mannville, Alberta Cemetery in May 1909. If there is any info about him in the archives, I would like to get copies if at all possible. There have been family rumors for a long time that he was a prison guard and I just found the following article from the Marysville, Republican dated May 17th, 2004: "Chas. Brown, who is guard at the State Penitentiary, has been home for about three weeks for a visit with his family. While there, he sold his Chester farm. He returned to his duties at the penitentiary this morning."

I am from North Carolia and cannot, at present, get to Idaho to secure any information, but hope to do so in the future. Looking forward to your response.

Notice

The article Westview Press has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability through reliable sources. IF sources are found to exist later, then a redirect into the parent company's article would be most appropriate.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~RAM (talk) 10:25, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
